October 18 and 25, 2003 | |
On October 18 and 25, NOAA's National Geodetic Survey dedicated commemorative survey marks in Louisville, Kentucky, and Clarksville, Indiana, respectively, as part of the bicentennial celebration of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
In Louisville the dedication ceremony was arranged the Kentucky Association of Professional Land Surveyors (KAPS), and included a presentation by NGS Director Charlie Challstrom. In Clarsksville the dedication ceremony was arranged by the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors (ISPLS) and the Clarksville Historical Society.
Also on hand were University of Akron Surveying students who wore period costumes and demonstrated how the Corps of Discovery surveyed the new country 200 years ago. |
