13. Many local governmental agencies are realizing that GIS can be used to economically plan and maintain infrastructure as well as provide more conventional services. As the accuracy of low-cost geospatial data increases along with the ability of GIS software to support more precise geospatial data, many cities and counties are defining a low-distortion projection (LDP) for use in their jurisdiction. Does your County use a LDP ?

14. If "yes" to Question 13, some users have suggested NGS consider developing a web-based LDP design tool to aid local governments, surveyors, and engineers who wish to define an LDP for their jurisdiction or project. Also, it has been suggested that NGS create a LDP Registry would allow governmental entities to "register" an LDP for their area. Is the current State Plane Coordinate System meeting your needs or would you like NGS to automate LDP design and create a LDP Registry?
