Do you have pictures from before the storm?     Top
No, we do not take pictures before a storm event due to the variability of hurricane landfall. Click here to request more information.


How are areas prioritized?     Top
Areas are prioritized based on official requests from federal, local and state agencies that will be using the imagery in first response situations. Click here to request more information.


How far inland is imagery collected?     Top
Typically, imagery is acquired 4 km inland from the coastline. Click here to request more information.


How often is the website updated?     Top
The website is typically updated within 24 hours of new data acquisition (new data acquisition dependent upon weather conditions, priorities and other factors.) Click here to request more information.

What is the date of the photography?     Top
The date and time of each image is displayed on the Image Page. The time displayed is in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Click the "Get Metadata" link on the image page to get addition information about the flight during which the image was acquired. Click here to request more information.


How can I get rid of the white background in my GIS software?     Top
Try using a background value of "255, 254, 255". Some users may not be able to get rid of the background using the "Background Transparent" option. Future versions of our software will include the ability to create black backgrounds. Click here to request more information.


How do I get georeferenced imagery?     Top
Please click the "Get Worldfile" link as well as the "Get Metadata" link on the image page. The worldfile contains georeferencing information (for suitable software). The metadata file contains image acquisition date as well as other information about the photography. Click here to request more information.

What is the Project Index?     Top
The Project Index is an overview of the project area and outlines areas in which imagery has been acquired. Click here to request more information.


How do I navigate the Project Index?     Top
Click on any of the outlined areas (rectangular boxes) to see index of images in that area. Click here to request more information.

What is the Image Index Map?     Top
The Image Index Map is a map of a portion of the project area. The backdrop of the Image Index Map was created from satlellite imagery with road names and other information highlighted. Click here to request more information.


How do I navigate the Image Index Map?     Top
The footprints of individual images are depicted on the Image Index Map with yellow and black borders. Click inside one of these footprints to view the image. Click here to request more information.


How did you come up with the name of the Image Index Map? That's not what I would name it!     Top
The Image Index Maps cover the same area as USGS Quads and are named accordingly. For areas that are not covered by a full USGS quad, the name is referenced to the nearest USGS quad. Click here to request more information.

What is the Image Page?     Top
The Image Page displays a large thumbnail of the image, some information about the image, links to the World File and Metadata File. Click here to request more information.


How do I see the full size image?     Top
Click on either the image thumbnail, or on the "Full Size Image" link below the thumbnail. Your browser may initially dipict the image scaled down to fit the browser window. If that occurs, hover over the image with the mouse the image and click on the expand symbol when it appears. Click here to request more information.


How do I select a different image?     Top
The Image page displays a smaller, unlabeled version of the Image Index Page which highlights the current image (in red) as well as the next and previous image. You can click on any of the Previous or Next Image links to move along a flight line, or you can click on one of the small image footprints to view any selected image.
