Data Submittal
Second-order class II (or above) standards must be met before leveling data may be submitted to NGS for publication. For data-submission policies, see Bluebook Policy.

Allow two weeks for NGS to review and process the following:
Submit a Survey Project Proposal before the start of field work, and respond to any NGS comments.
- Submit rod calibration data for second-order class I and above to NGS LOCUS (once only for each rod).
- Submit level instrument information (make, model, serial number, stadia constant) to NGS LOCUS (only once for each level).
- Request a contributor ID from NGS LOCUS (only once for each submitting organization).
The submitter must provide the following deliverables:
- raw field observation files downloaded from the level,
- .hgz and .bok files produced from the raw files by Translev,
- a description .dsc file typically developed using WinDesc,
- and a project sketch .jpg or .kml produced by WinDesc or other.

Over the course of several days, this class provides instruction and hands-on experience to assist users in successful field and office procedures for geodetic leveling.
