Geodetic and Tidal Datums/GNSS/Real-Time Positioning/Digital Leveling

The objectives of this training are to familiarize attendees with 1) the basics of the National Spatial Reference System, 2) geodetic and tidal datums, 3) the abilities and limitations of various surveying equipment and methods, 4) static and real-time kinematic GPS collection and processing, 5) real-time kinematic GPS equipment through hands-on instruction, and 6) basics of Geodetic Digital Leveling

All attendees are asked to watch the videos listed below, which total approximately 4 1/2 hours. Viewing these before the class will allow for more Q&A and hands-on time with the equipment. These are suggested but optional:
 

Suggestions of what to bring:

  • If you have an aerial image or map of your Reserve, please bring it. It will assist the trainers in helping you develop a site plan.
  • There will be outdoors time with the equipment, so be sure to bring weather appropriate field clothes.
