NGS Participates in Airport Survey Pilot Project

Representatives from NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS) Field Operations Branch participated in two airfield surveys for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the Department of Defense (DOD) the first week of November. Airfields at Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene, TX and Kelly Air Force Base near San Antonio, TX were surveyed and work will continue for the next three weeks. NGS has a long history of working with the Federal Aviation Administration and the establishment of this partnership between NGS and NGA satisfies the need for DOD airport surveys and provides mutual technology transfers.
