NOAA's Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) Save Users $100M in FY11

Recent usage analysis reveals that the products and services of NOAA's Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) program have experienced more than 20 percent growth in FY11. Surveyors, GIS users, mariners, engineers, scientists, and the public rely on CORS data for a variety of precise positioning activities, and NOAA's National Geodetic Survey provides these services at no charge. In FY11, CORS products and services will provide $100 million more in added benefits (primarily due to cost savings) than they did in FY10. To date, there are 1,850 stations in the CORS network in the United States and its territories, operated by more than 200 NOAA partners. For more information, contact Rick Foote.
