NOS Participates in International Geodesy Meeting in Argentina

From August 29 to September 5, representatives from NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS) participated in the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina. NGS presentations addressed many issues in geodesy and spatial coordinate reference systems. The meeting also presented an opportunity to highlight NGS’s new Gravity for the Redefinition of the American Vertical Datum (GRAV-D) initiative. In addition to the update of the GRAV-D Project, other meetings were held on IAG projects related to the application of geodetic theory and the practical aspects of implementing a common gravity-based height model for all of North America. IAG is the largest international meeting on geodesy, and it is a primary venue to share research and ideas. For more information, contact Dan Roman or Dru Smith.
