NGS Hosts LiDAR Processing System Workshop
From October 27 to 30, NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS) hosted 25
participants from NOAA, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the National
Park Service, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and the U.S. Forest
Service for a four-day workshop led by USGS. The primary workshop
objective was to educate attendees on the Airborne Light Detection and
Ranging (LiDAR) Processing System (ALPS) software and its applications
for exploring and processing LiDAR data and imagery acquired by the
Experimental Advanced Airborne Research LiDAR (EAARL). The
EAARLis a small-footprint,
green-wavelength, topobathy LiDAR system with unique capabilities for
surveying coral reefs, near-shore benthic habitats, coastal vegetation,
and sandy beaches. For more information, contact
