NGS Provides Training to NERR Staff on Accurate Positioning Methods

This week the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) is providing training to staff from six National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERR) from across the country at the NGS training facility in Corbin, Virginia. The training will familiarize reserve staff with the National Spatial Reference System and various surveying equipment and methods including static and real-time kinematic GPS and geodetic leveling. Knowledge gained from this training will assist the NERR staff in their efforts to monitor coastal habitats and vegetation against a backdrop of changing sea levels, inundation patterns, and environmental strains.
