NGS Educates Partners at Great Lakes Height Modernization Consortium

National Geodetic Survey's (NGS) Height Modernization Program educated partners at this fall's Great Lakes Region Height Modernization Consortium Meeting, October 13-14, in Columbus, Ohio. Experts from NGS updated partners on the status of survey projects and educated users about the development of new models and tools. Five of the six presenters at this event were from NGS. The Columbus forum is one of a series of regional coordination events sponsored by partners in the Great Lakes states, with support from NOAA. Collaborative meetings help Great Lakes Region states develop projects to address local priorities. The outputs from these projects should ultimately reduce operating costs for many sectors, including transportation and agriculture. It is also important to coordinate with Canada in defining the reference frame and monitoring changes in elevation around the Great Lakes. For more information, contact Renee Shields.
