NGS Participates in 'NOAA Day' at Mobile Bay, Alabama

On September 15, the Port of Mobile, Alabama and NOS representatives hosted a 'NOAA Day' to inform members of the local Mobile maritime community of various NOAA activities in the region. Presentations included an overview of the Physical Oceanographic Real-Time System, monitoring storm surge in Mobile Bay, the Disaster Response Center, and a new Mobile Bay nautical chart. NOS hosts included the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services, the Office of Coast Survey, the Office of Response and Restoration, and the National Geodetic Survey. Attendees included the U.S. Coast Guard, shipping companies, towing companies, pilots, U.S. Customs, Congressional staffers, and the Alabama State Port Authority.
