NGS Sponsors Three Activities for the 2010 NOAA Restoration Day in Oxford, Maryland

NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS) showcased both traditional and non-traditional applications of its products and services in contribution to the 2010 NOAA Restoration Day held at the Cooperative Oxford Laboratory in Oxford Maryland on June 15. NGS personnel (including staff from NGS’ Norfolk, VA Office) demonstrated a terrestrial Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) scan of the living shoreline project at the laboratory, a Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) survey of the shoreline, and showed how levels are run from the NOAA Commemorative Mark to the marks supporting the LiDAR scanning. NGS personnel also demonstrated bench mark recovery, static GPS observations, and submission of updated information to the NGS Online Position User Service (OPUS).
