Wired Magazine Publishes Article Describing NOAA's Aerial imagery of Hurricane Irene Destruction

Wired Magazine took note of aerial imagery collected by the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) in the wake of Hurricane Irene. In an online article here, the magazine described the disaster response imagery and included a link to NGS's Irene response imagery website. The devastation caused by Hurricane Irene was clearly evident to those in its path, but the extent of the damage may be easier to appreciate when seen from the air. NGS's remote sensing aircraft acquires and rapidly disseminates a variety of spatially referenced remote-sensing datasets to support homeland security and emergency response requirements. Images such as these assist with recovery efforts along coastlines impacted by numerous major hurricanes. For more information, contact Jon Sellars.
