NGS' OPUS Database Service Reaches Milestone

The National Geodetic Survey's (NGS) latest enhancement to its Online Positioning User Service (OPUS) has recently crossed the $1 million mark for estimated savings realized by the user community. OPUS—one of NGS' most popular services—processes GPS data and allows users to compute much more accurate positions on points of public interest, such as bench mark elevations at levees and tide stations. This new online OPUS database tool augments NGS' traditional data-archival service and enables users to more easily update the nationwide survey network. Over 2,500 marks have been updated from survey data contributed by over 100 agencies. For more information, contact Joe Evjen.
