Successful Summit Begins Dialog with Federal Mapping Agencies

On May 11-12, 2010 in Silver Spring, Maryland, the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) hosted a successful summit with more than 35 federal mapping agencies, state agencies, academia, and other users of the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS). The goal was to share information about upcoming improvements to the NSRS (as stated in NGS' Ten-Year Plan), as well as to solicit feedback from NGS' constituent base, highlighting the impact the plan will have on those agencies' mapping products and services. The Summit marked the first of several planned events over the course of the next decade as NGS moves forward to implement its Ten-Year Plan. Presentations and reports from the Summit will be available soon.
