GPS on Bench Marks' Campaign Successes Presented at Conference

NGS staff gave a presentation on successes from the "GPS on Bench Marks" citizen science campaign at the CitizenScience.org conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. Geoid models - part of the National Spatial Reference System - are representations of Earth's gravity field that, in combination with high-precision GPS observations, provide precise elevation information. Creating the models requires many hours of GPS data collected on thousands of survey markers, a task that NGS cannot complete alone. Removing barriers for the public to share GPS observations through campaigns like "GPS on Bench Marks" allows NGS to obtain the data it needs to modernize its positioning models and tools.
