NGS Participates in Hydrographic Services Review Panel

NGS Director Juliana Blackwell attended (via webinar) NOAA's biannual meeting of the Hydrographic Services Review Panel (HSRP) federal advisory committee. The HSRP advises the NOAA administrator on navigation services, water levels and currents, and global positioning. Blackwell provided an update on NGS coastal mapping activities and the modernization of the National Spatial Reference System to the HSRP. She also participated in the panel discussion planning for ocean mapping of the Exclusive Economic Zone and the shoreline and nearshore of Alaska. HSRP participants also discussed the use of artificial intelligence to quickly extract actionable information for first responders from NGS emergency response imagery.
