NGS Supports Advancement of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame

NGS participated in the Unified Analysis Workshop, held in Paris, France. The workshop, co-organized by the International Association of Geodesy's Global Geodetic Observing System and the International Earth Rotation and Reference System Service, brought together international partners who collect information on the size and shape of the Earth through four space geodetic measurement techniques. Participants discussed issues common to all techniques and the local tie surveys of the observatories where they are located. Information from these surveys plays a critical role in the solutions used to create an International Terrestrial Reference Frame - the framework for measuring the Earth' s surface. NGS gave presentations about its local tie survey activities, highlighting advancements made in instrumentation and data processing, along with exploring ways to improve the surveys' precision and efficiency.
