Positioning Critical Features on NOAA Ship Pisces

NGS personnel from Norfolk, Virginia, completed a sensor and reference mark survey of the NOAA Ship Pisces in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The survey provides a current, precise coordinate system of the ship's infrastructure and sensors, which are critical to successfully completing its missions. Pisces conducts habitat and bathymetric mapping, biological surveys, and fisheries stock assessments. Precise positional information is also important for the ship's sensors, because Pisces continuously transmits meteorological data to update weather models for a wide range of partners representing various disciplines and endeavors.
